Leadership skills and management training
Stop managing, start leading
How do you become a leader?
Leadership is about behaviour first, skills second. It happens because there is a sense
of trust and respect amongst the followers, rather than because of a person's skills. Of
course, great leaders don't stop managing or using the management skills they
already have. They still need to plan, organise and communicate effectively with all their
people and peers.
If you want to motivate your people effortlessly, extract massive performance gains
from them and have them feel good about it afterwards, you need to take a leaf out of the
great leaders' copy books. There are lots of characteristics that make a great leader but
generating trust and taking responsibility rank highly. Being able to communicate is vital
as is an understanding of people because for most leaders, people come before task in all matters.
Most really successful leaders surround themselves with good people and then give them the right job to do
rather than work the other way around.
