Team development for effective teams
Less heat, more light

How will team building help?

Dr Bruce Tuckman described how teams develop in his "Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing" model of 1965. It still represents an good model for how teams behave over time and what they need to do in order to become a real high-performance team.

If you have a team that are always questioning decisions or debating points that you thought had been previously agreed, then your team, like many others is probably stuck in the Storming stage - the least effective stage of the model to be in. And yet many teams stay in that stage because they don't know how to get out of it.

Team building - deliver more starting today

Teams need to understand what their role is: in essence where they are going. That means defining a clear vision of where they are to go that is shared and agreed by the team. A common goal improves performance and delivers more for your and your team. Without it you will get conflict and inefficiency. Who needs that?

If you want to improve the effectiveness of your team, talk to us about defining a vision and strategy for the team?

Even if you know where you are going, your team may not know how to get there. Setting the goals and objectives for your team will allow them to out-perform others by working to a common purpose.

Finally, you need to start your team communicating with each other. The most effective way is for everyone to understand what drives each other and how they prefer to work, so consider using tools like MBTI® or Learning Styles to align your teams and allow everyone to begin communicating more effectively and also to generate a sense of trust amongst the team.
